Whether you choose mats or a sealant, you will notice a big difference in the quality of your garage with regards to the floor. Now you will be able to walk around in your socks or bare feet and not get the feeling you are walking outside. A nice finished floor is a great way to add value to your garage and most people never even think about doing it. The great thing about a garage is that it is removed from the rest of the house and you can do all sorts of things with it if you have the room. One of the things people do to get extra space in their home is to build a small apartment either in or on top of their garages. This works nicely if your garage is big enough or if it is situated in the right place.

Using your garage as an extra room can work well if you can include outside access to it. That way you can use it as a true guesthouse where your guests can come and go as they please. More and more children are moving back in with their parents because of the economy and turning the garage into a bedroom or apartment they can live in is a good solution. To do it correctly though, you have to make sure it is properly heated in the winter so that it is livable.
